1) We are GDPR compliant and ISO 27001 certified
We’ve implemented robust security measures to protect, store and handle your data. All data is securely stored in Western Europe, ensuring compliance with strict regional privacy laws.
In line with GDPR requirements, we are transparent on how your personal data is processed, and do this only for its intended purpose. You can read how we guarantee GDPR compliancy in our Privacy Policy. Our ISO 27001 certification confirms that we follow internationally recognized standards for information security, protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your files at every stage.
2) We guarantee full confidentiality
- None of the employees of Amberscript has access to your transcripts (with the exception of the human transcribers who will perfect your file in our secure Editor.).
- If you delete a file from our website – it’s gone forever, there is no copy stored on our server.
- If you delete your account, all of the personal information and data we collected is removed from our servers forever.
3) We have strong work ethics
We require all of our human transcribers to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to make sure that our transcribers don’t share or store your information. Moreover, transcribers work in our secure Editor.
4) Everything that we do is transparent
Our privacy policy indicates the precise procedures that we use to handle your data. Needless to say, we would never force you to share your personal data with us! You’re allowed to request a file that contains the data we collected about you at any point in time. Furthermore, you can always withdraw your consent for the use of 3rd party cookies.
5) We use data exclusively for research purposes

6) We have implemented strong security measures
We follow industry best practices to ensure your data is securely stored and transferred online. All files are encrypted and anonymized, and our team is fully trained in data security protocols.
We hold the TPN (Trusted Partner Network) badge, a content security assessment framework which certifies that our platforms and workflows meet the highest security standards required by the media and entertainment industry.

Do data remain within the European Union?
Amberscript’s IT infrastructure is designed to ensure full compliance with the GDPR and the highest level of data protection. Your data will never be stored outside of Europe. We use third parties to transcribe your audio files and process your files. The personal data in these files is never shared with these third parties. Third parties do not store data or use data for training purposes. When processing the data, we act in accordance with our terms of use. We do everything we can to ensure that your data is stored securely. By uploading the data, you agree to this.

Where is my data being stored?
Amberscript’s IT infrastructure is based on the Google Cloud Platform server infrastructure located in Frankfurt, Germany. All data processed by Amberscript is stored and processed on highly secure servers and regularly backed up on the same infrastructure.

How long are my files stored?
Your files will automatically be deleted 6 months after the date of upload. You will receive a reminder 4 and 2 weeks before deletion of your file(s). If you don’t want your file(s) to be deleted, please switch the toggle ‘data deletion’ off in the Account tab.
Good to know:
- Last upload before 28 February 2025: your files will be deleted, based on our deletion policy. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.
- Last upload after 1 March 2025: Files will be deleted with prior notification

How do you ensure that files are secure when they are shared with third parties (e.g., with transcribers)?
With our manual transcription services, data never leaves Amberscript’s servers when transferred internally for manual transcription or quality control. Only qualified transcribers assigned to the specific transcription job have access to the data. All transcribers are trained in the careful handling of sensitive data, and all transcribers have signed NDAs and DPAs. Data traffic to the database is encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), and all communication between the front end and back end is encrypted using the latest version of TLS (Transport Layer Security).

Are you ISO 27001 certified, or do you have other ISO certifications?
Amberscript’s IT infrastructure is based on Google Cloud Platform data servers, which are certified to the highest standards (including ISO27001). Amberscript is also ISO9001 certified and has relevant processes in place to ensure quality management and data integrity. Our processes are consistently optimized for accuracy, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
